All of our clinical psychologists are licensed in Virginia by the State Board of Psychology and are listed in the National Health Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.

ANITA L. AUERBACH, PH.D., Director, was formerly Chief of Psychological Services at the Northern Virginia Training Center. She is a Diplomate of the International Academy of Behavioral Medicine and the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists. Dr. Auerbach has served as an instructor at several area universities and is presently Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychology at George Washington University. She has been a consultant to various community agencies, mental health clinics, hospitals, courts, school systems, group medical practices, corporations, and area sports teams. She has lectured extensively, appeared on national television, and has assisted the media in the development of television programs and articles on mental health topics. Dr. Auerbach is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Virginia Psychological Association, the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists (where she serves on the Executive Council), the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sports Psychology, and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and is also part of the Red Cross Disaster Response Network.


BRUCE M. HALPIN, PH.D., was formerly Director of the Parenting Program at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital, and Assistant Professor at the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. He has lectured extensively to professional and parent groups and has helped to develop television programs dealing with child abuse. Dr. Halpin has served as a forensic consultant to courts and government agencies and is also part of the Red Cross Disaster Response Network. Dr. Halpin is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Division of Child, Youth and Family Services, the Virginia Psychological Association, the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists, and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.


EDYTHE A. WIGGS, PH.D., was formerly a Neuropsychology Fellow at Georgetown University Hospital and was associated with Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Saint Elizabeth's Hospital. In addition to private practice, she is currently a clinical consultant at the National Institutes of Health and formerly at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Center of Greater Washington. She was formerly an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at George Mason University and is presently Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychology at George Washington University. Dr. Wiggs is a member of the American Psychological Association, the International Neuropsychological Society, and the National Academy of Neuropsychology.


VINCENT A. THOMY, PH.D., was formerly Director of Psychology Training for the District of Columbia Commission on Mental Health Services. He has also served as Clinical Director of Second Genesis - a network of substance abuse treatment programs. Dr. Thomey has been a Consultant to the National Institute of Education, the Peace Corps, and the Hospital for Sick Children. At Saint Elizabeth's Hospital, he served as both Program Director and a member of the Training Faculty with expertise in inpatient/outpatient treatment and clinical neuropsychology. Dr. Thomey has lectured extensively and is a member of numerous professional associations.


EVE G. WEBER, PH.D., was formerly a Fellow at the Kapi’olani Hospital for Women and Children and served as a psychologist for the Honolulu School District and Hawaii State Hospital . She has also been associated with McLean Hospital of the Harvard Medical School , Department of Psychiatry. In addition to private practice, Dr. Weber is currently a clinical consultant to the National Naval Medical Center , as well as Adjunct Professor at Walden University . She also served as a forensic consultant to court and government agencies. Dr. Weber is a member of the American Psychological Association, The Virginia Psychological Association, The Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists, the National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists, and is a Representative for the National Military Family Association.


EILEEN J. SARETT-CUASAY, PH.D., was formerly associated with the University of Florida Health Sciences Center and Emory University School of Medicine and has worked in private practice before joining Commonwealth Psychological Associates PLC. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with training at Gallaudet University and Children's National Medical Center. Dr. Cuasay is a member of the American Psychological Association, and the National Academy of Neuropsychology and is proficient in American Sign Language.


JOSEPH SNOW, PH.D., was formerly associated with the Veteran’s Administrative hospital of East Orange, New Jersey and served as a Clinical Neuropsychology Fellow at the University of Michigan.  In addition to private practice at Commonwealth Psychological Associates PLC, he is currently staff scientist and neuropsychologist in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program and Lab of Brain and Cognition of the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.  He has co-authored many scholarly publications on a variety of topics in the field of neuropsychology and has served as an ad hoc reviewer for several scientific journals.  Dr. Snow is a member of the International Neuropsychological Society.


MARIA L. DITTRICH, PH.D. was formerly associated with South Florida State Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Dr. Dittrich completed her training in Clinical Psychology at the George Washington University and served as graduate Co-Director of the Meltzer Psychological Services Center while there. In addition to private practice at Commonwealth Psychological Associates PLC, she is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychology at the George Washington University. She was an academic contributor to the APA Dictionary of Psychology (2007), and is currently co-authoring a book chapter based on a portion of her doctoral work. Dr. Dittrich is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the society for the Psychological Study of Lesbian Gay and Bisexual Issues, the Virginia Psychological Association, and the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists.
LENORE M. BOOKHEIM, PH.D. was formerly a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute, following an externship at the Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Bookheim has provided services to several university counseling centers and has served as an instructor to medical residents and interns on rotation. She is the recipient of the Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Award. In addition to her clinical duties, she also serves as a consultant to the courts. Dr. Bookheim is a member of the America Psychological Association, the Virginia Psychological Association and the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists.

Allied Staff

DIANE L. WOOLHEATER, M.A., N.C.S.P., Neuropsychology Associate, graduated with a degree in school psychology from George Mason University and was formerly associated with the El Rancho Unified School District in California . In addition to assisting with neuropsychology assessments at CPA, she is also a consultant to Fairfax County Public Schools on psychoeducational assessments with children from kindergarten through high school. Ms. Woolheater is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists.


CAROLE STERN, A.T.R., BC, is a board certified art therapist in private practice at Commonwealth Psychological Associates PLC. Formerly associated as a civilian with the US Military Evac Hospital in South Korea, she remains associated with the Psychiatric Institute hospital in Washington D.C. where she was recently voted Outstanding Expressive Therapist of the Year. Ms. Stern is a member of the American Art Therapy Association.
LISA LOCKE VOYER, LMFT., anger management consultant to Commonwealth Psychological Associates PLC, has also conducted anger management groups for the City of Alexandria and other Northern Virginia community agencies. Ms. Voyer is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and is currently pursuing her doctorate degree.
SHERI L. STOOTS, M.ED., CCC-A, in addition to private practice at Commonwealth Psychological Associates PLC, is a pediatric audiologist at the Pediatric Hearing Center. She was formerly Assistant Director of Audiology at Children’s Hospital in Richmond, VA where she lectured for professionals and the community on auditory processing disorders.  She was also adjunct instructor at Longwood University and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
VERGINE BARSOUMIAN, M.S., CCC-A, in addition to private practice as an audiologist at Commonwealth Psychological Associates PLC, formerly served as Chief of Audiology and Speech Pathology at the Northern Virginia Training Center and as a research assistant at the American University Hospital, Beirut. She is a member of the American Academy of Audiology, and the American Speech and Hearing Association.
KATHLEEN EGAN, M.A., CCC-SLP, in addition to private practice with Commonwealth Psychological Associates PLC, serves as a Speech-language Pathologist at the Northern Virginia Training Center (NVTC) treating pragmatic language disorders in adults with multiple handicaps, autism, dual diagnosis and severe problem behaviors, as well as training communication partners.  She also provides academic speech and language support to the Lincolnia Education Foundation where she treats adolescents with emotional disorders and learning disabilities.  Ms. Egan serves as a representative to the Virginia Autism Council and is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
